My First Chance

As I was first deciding that I wanted to get into the multimedia field of work, I didn’t really have a plan of how I was going to do that. It started by taking pictures for the football team. I realized that my pictures were good just like my videos were.

But I didn’t want to work solely in sports one day.

I told my friend this, her name is Hanna.

She quickly said, “well how about you take our engagement pictures?”

Of course, I said yes.

And I have to admit I was a little  nervous. It wasn’t that I was not confident in my pictures, because I knew I could take good pictures. I was just worried that they wouldn’t be happy with them or that I didn’t have the abilities of an experienced photographer.

I did some studying and planning and I decided to take them to one of my favorite places in the world. The most gorgeous farmland you’ve ever seen in your whole life. We spent a couple of hours there and then went to a river where we finished up.

I took them home and immediately edited the pictures and they had turned out better than I had even hoped. So, being as excited as I was, I took the completed pictures to them the same night.

They loved them and paid me.

It was officially the start of my business.

Once people started to see these pictures, things jumpstarted for me and hasn’t really slowed down since. My hope is that by the time I graduate in two years, business will be booming.

If you don’t get anything else from this blog, get this: you only need one person to give you a chance. Just one. If anyone has ever given you a chance, share that with someone else also. This world is all about learning and growing. Everyone has to start somewhere.

A look at some of my favorites from the day:
